How to get to Talloires

Travelling from the UK

We have outlined the best routes to take to Lake Annecy from the UK or Dubai. We recommend that you stay in or near Talloires, or Montmin to ensure you don’t need to travel far for the wedding weekend, as the Lake is 9 miles from North to South!

There are several convenient ways to travel from the UK to Talloires on Lake Annecy.

By Air

Direct flights are available from London airports to Geneva Airport, flight time is ±90 mins.

From Geneva Airport, Talloires is ±45–60 mins by car.

Lyon is a useful alternative, drive time from Lyon Airport is ±1.5 hrs & regular speedy trains from Gare du Lyon to Annecy.

Transfer options from Geneva & Lyon include:

  • Private transfer or taxi - easiest option, especially with luggage. If you are flying as a group, you could also share a van.

  • Car hire - highly recommended if you plan to explore the area. You can get amazing deals for the week, which works out much better value than getting a taxi.

  • Bus or train - available but less direct. Trains run into Annecy from most major French cities & Geneva.

By Train


Guests may also travel by train from London to Annecy via Paris. This option typically takes 6–8 hours and requires a change or two depending on your departure point (BTW great bar on board on the French leg).

From Central Annecy
You can catch a cab, grab a bus or if you get the timing right, the ferry circumnavigates Lake Annecy twice a day (morning & afternoon), it is a cracker way to arrive into Talloires.

 

Travelling from Dubai

There are daily direct flights from Dubai to Geneva, Lyon, Nice & Paris.

Guests travelling from Dubai will find Geneva to be the most convenient airport.

By Air


Direct flights are available from Dubai to Geneva Airport, takes about 6 hrs.

From Geneva Airport, Talloires is ±45 minutes by car (noting there is a border-cross if you are renting a car in Switzerland).

You can also fly to Lyon and drive, which is approx a 2 hour drive. Great if you want to explore Lyon before arriving in Annecy.

By Train


Guests may also travel by train from Genève-Cornavin to Annecy There are about 12 trains across the day with no changes, takes ±1.5 hrs through the pre-Alps. Or if you land further afield in France, the drive or train will undoubtedly take you through epic countryside.
